July Money Tips

We are now officially in the summer season although the weather is not showing it today. Here are money tips for this month.

1. If you have not done so, set up a Direct Deposit (T1-DD form) for your tax account even if you have no refund, because you may be entitled to benefits that you're not aware of yet. Many have been surprised by legitimate deposits by the government; GST benefit, extra child benefit, and others. :) Don’t miss it!
   
2. If you have balance owing and tax installment, make sure you plan your finance accordingly. Balance owing is due on September 1st and tax installment on September 15th.
   
3. Whenever possible, have a medical office (dental, vision, etc.) make claims directly to your insurance provider, to cut out-of-pocket expenses. Otherwise, you will need to pay first, then get reimbursed by the insurance company. If you're lazy and/or forgetful (like me), you may forget to make the claims and not receive the reimbursement until months later (or never receive it).
